Like crop storage, the interior of any livestock building is a dynamic environment that will contain changing but predictable outputs of gases, heat and moisture. All designers and constructors of typical agricultural buildings would check the specification of component parts of buildings such as steel frames and concrete floors against engineering specifications, and expect to make calculations to ensure competent design. However, for many UK livestock buildings this same process is seldom carried out to meet the design requirements of the livestock contained within. There is a great opportunity here to promote and sell livestock buildings not purely on cost, but on technical performance.
