As expected, the Riksbank held the policy rate at -0.5% at its July meeting, noting that underlying inflation pressures remain fairly modest. While one out of the six board members argued for an immediate rate hike, a second member called for a steeper rate path than projected, pitching for a first hike in September or October. The Riksbank will continue intervening in the foreign exchange market in orderto prevent unwanted kronastrength, as the economy faces risks from escalating global trade tensions.
