Forecasts for 2020 GDP have turned brighter as the domestic economy benefits from a less steep fall in business confidence and investment. Retail sales and mining & manufacturing output have bounced back well, yet the external sector is vulnerable to extended weakness due to the global crisis. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate has risen to 9.3%, up 2 percentage points since March, with young workers (15-24) suffering the brunt of layoffs.
