New master plans and management information systems for water and sewer infrastructure in the Western Cape

In 2003 the Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) programme managers for the Western Cape identified the need to establish management information systems with respect to infrastructure for all towns in the province that would address the following aspects: Information relating to infrastructure existed in formats ranging from electronic databases and drawings to paper copies and sometimes even only in the memory of officials.
