By using a thermo-sensitive polymer network in which the sensitizer and the catalyst are immobilized, novel hydrogen generating gel systems capable of temperature control of photoreaction have been realized. Many kinds of biomacromolecules express their function through structural and conformational changes with biochemical reaction. In general, biochemical reactions such as enzymatic reactions become more active with an increase in temperature due to the increased reaction rates. However, at higher temperatures, irreversible denaturation results in the deactivation of their function.
