For all the talk by vendors of the dawning era of mega-memory SIM cards, there is still only one such card that subscribers can actually use. Orange France launched its "SIM+" last November in a commercial trial involving some several thousand cards. The card packs 128 megabytes of memory, most of it in a Nand flash chip like those used in removable flash cards for digital cameras and mobile phones. It runs in a specially modified handset from French manufacturer Sagem.
