N-gauge modelling comes of age

Oxford Diecast may be giving collectors cause to think again about its 1:148-scale N-gauge models. Cheap enough for all but the most nitpicking of collectors to feel churlish to draw attention to their detailed shortcomings, its initial bus releases - London RT, RF, Routemaster and Ql trolleybus, Bedford OB coach and Southdown 'Queen Mary' PD3 - maybe struggled to provide the same satisfaction as 1:76-scale or larger models. For one thing, they are just so small. For another, when viewed close up or under magnification you start to notice that - inevitably on such tiny objects - features like the thickness of platforms or window pillars are out of scale.
