When our editor persuaded me to write for his splendid magazine seven years ago, I promised myself that I would not rise to the bait of the You Write letters pages when a reader disagreed with something I said, but all rules deserve to be broken once in a while, and, in the case of one of last month's taking me to task for my support of Lonon's articulated buses, it is for a good cause. Adam Kelleher has, I would wager, made fewer trips by bus in London than I have and I am absolutely certain he will not have travelled to the extent I have on continental European and North American public transport.
