Ottawa Enviro500 in fatal train collision

Authorities are investigating a fatal accident in the Canadian capital Ottawa on 18 September when an OC Transpo double-decker collided with a passenger train on a level crossing, killing five passengers and the driver of the bus. The investigation is focusing on the driver and the vehicle, a UK-built Alexander Dennis Enviro500, which failed to stop at the level crossing gates and was hit by the train. The impact sheared the front off the bus. Besides the fatalities, 31 bus passengers were injured. No one on the train suffered injury.
