Metroline gains routes at Arriva's expense

Metroline will regain operation of four north London routes from next June after 12 years of operation by Arriva from its soon-to-close Garston garage. Route 268 (Golders Green-Finchley Road) was in the second batch of routes put out to competitive tender in 1986 and was awarded to London Country North West. Re-tendering saw the route pass in 1990 to R&I, which MIL subsequently acquired and merged into London Northern, before selling its London business to Metroline. It was lost on retendering in June 2006 to Arriva the Shires, which incorporated the former LCNW business.
