Guildford Sprinters to move routes again

Arriva Southern Counties' Guildford-based Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibuses are being moved on for a third time.Introduced on a Guildford town service in April 2017, they were moved last autumn to interurban route X1 linking Guildford with Horsham (Buses January), replacing 12m coaches. At the time Andy Isbell, Arriva general manager for Guildford, told the Get Surrey website: 'The X1 has shown continuous growth since its introduction in May and we feel that the minibuses will be the perfect fit for this express service.'This has not proved to be the case, and Isbell now says: 'Our routes reflect customer need and the X1 service is particularly underused. The discontinuation of the X1 will improve efficiency on the remaining bus routes, which will continue to provide a reliable service for customers'.
