The California Geothermal Permitting Guide was created to aid California geothermal developers navigate the permitting process for high- and low-temperature geothermal projects, excluding geothermal heat-pump installations. The guide assumes that the land and/or mineral rights have been acquired and is organized by developmental activity, beginning with exploration and ending with power-plant licensing and direct-use project authorization and project closure. References and additional resources are included.
