The Jakarta Post reports that the Indonesian House of Representatives passed a geothermal bill on August 26. The bill will replace the existing Law No.27/2003 on geothermal energy. Geothermal exploration will no longer be considered a mining activity on the archipelago. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik praised the passing of the law, saying that it would let geothermal projects in Indonesia expand further.
