Wates docks for Liverpool cruises

Wates has been appointed to build a 30m four-star hotel for Liverpool city council as part of a 5bn plan to develop derelict docklands. The 200-bedroom hotel will sit next to the 50m cruise terminal being built by Belfast contractor McLaughlin and Harvey on the banks of the river Mersey. When complete, the terminal will accommodate the world's largest cruise ships. The regeneration scheme, known as Liverpool Waters, involves the council working with Peel Land and Property - the developer behind Manchester's MediaCityUK and Liverpool's John Lennon airport.
