Beijing Olympics used to promote UK architects

British architects' hopes of landing work abroad have received a huge boost thanks to intensive lobbying during the Beijing Olympics by the RIBA and trade minister Digby Jones, it has emerged. Speaking at a high-level seminar at the British Embassy in Beijing last Friday, Jones, who heads government organisation UKTrade & Investment, and RIBA president Sunand Prasad told Chinese government representatives, developers and academics that UK architects were best placed to help the Cabe and Design for London's Olympic review panel has raised "serious questions" about HOK Sport's design for the London 2012 stadium.
