Cable networks could add $2.5 billion in ad revenue if ratings were measured with cable set-top-box data rather than the traditional Nielsen TV sample. Meanwhile, data derived from satellite set-top boxes could add $600 million to cable programmers' coffers. For the broadcast networks, however, that same data could spell 4% lower ratings and $730 million in lost ad revenue. That's according to Manish Bhatia, Nielsen's president of advanced digital services.
