首都圏中央連絡自動車道（圏央道）は，首都圏中心部から半径約40～60kmの位置に計画されている延長約300kmの自動車専用の高規格幹線道路である．%The Metropolitan Inter-City Expressway is an expressway planned as an extension of approximately 300km, looping from 40 to 60km around the center of the Tokyo metropolitan area.rnOn the Metropolitan Inter-City Expressway, dispersion of traffic passing through the city center and the bypass function of thru traffic are apparent in the beltway which mutually connects the ring roads with the radial roads extending from the city. The mitigation of traffic congestion is expected in the metropolitan area, as well as in the nearby districts. The mid-west section now operates as a beltway between the Chuo and Kan-etsu Expressways, and is targeted for completion in the 2012 fiscal year.
