摘要

Photography took hold of Jennifer Drucker at the tender age of eight. "My father bought me my first camera. It meant everything to me," she reminisces. "At that time it was empowering to be able to photograph and watch people's reactions." She continued to photograph through high-school and went on to study with Arthur Leipzig and Joan Powers at C. W. Post, Long Island University, receiving a BFA in 1991 and planning for a career in commercial photography. For a few years, Drucker worked as an assistant to architectural and commercial photographers in New York, but eventually opted to move back to her native Long Island, where she went to work for a creative design studio. She became excited about all the variables involved in design and layout. "I started learning about graphic design, and typesetting and paper—all those tactile things. What I learned began to affect how my photographs looked. That's when my imagery headed back into the zone of fine art and away from a commercial direction. She eventually returned to C.W. Post, where she studied with Frank Dituri and received an MFA in photography.
