Hal Gould presides over the oldest photography gallery in America—possibly in the world. Started in 1963, in Denver, Colorado, the gallery has been exhibiting fine art photography in the same location for 42 years. Gould studied painting and photography at the Art Institute in Chicago in the late 1940s, attending c asses with the likes of Art Seigel, Harry Callahan, and Aaron Siskind. He worked with Peter Pollock on The Illustrated History of Photography, and helped found the Photographic Art Society.
