Leading by Example: Role Models and Lessons on Leadership

Do women, specifically those in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), make good leaders? Historically, female scientists have had low representation as leaders. Women make up only 28.2% of all management/administration professionals in science (1). In academia, women are department heads in only 4% of the top 50 chemistry programs, and there are no women as department heads in any of the top 50 chemical engineering or top 50 physics programs in the U.S. (2).
