Chardonnay Part 1: the numbers' game

This is the first of two articles that will explore the current and future state of Australian Chardonnay. The articles summarise feedback from around 30 companies/organisations representing all sectors of the industry and producers of all sizes who provided a great deal of opinion and information. There was also a lot withheld. The unsaid, in fact, said a great deal and Tony Keys has taken the liberty of interpreting several of the blanks. Part 2, to be published in the next issue of the Journal, will involve makers' and marketers' opinion.
