From textile plant to paint shop? Commercializing nanofibers with technologies

Moving from the laboratory to industrial production has been a slow process for developers of nanofiber-based materials, but a number of improvements and/or alternatives to the conventional electrospinning route are now commercially available. The technology for the production of nanofiber-based webs which are reinforced with standard fabrics, primarily nonwovens, for use in applications such as filter media, medical materials, battery separators and acoustic insulation, has improved rapidly in the past couple of years.
