Green Villa

Plants and trees can help us to offset CO2 emissions, cool our cities, and promote biodiversity. The idea from the '90s of city parks as an oasis in the city is too limited. If the world is in need of a radical "green dip", why not start with a residential building completely covered in plants?The Green Villa is located in the Dutch village of Sint- Michielsgestel. MVRDV used a gridded "rack" system to entirely cover the building's exterior in a variety of plants.Located right next to the Dommel river, the 4-story Green Villa adopts the urban form of the neighboring buildings, while the plant covering helps it blend into the bucolic landscape of the nearby river, fields and trees.
