Collaborative Intelligence = Respect

Shortly after 11 September 2001, a core group of family members related to the 184 individuals whose lives were lost at the Pentagon conceived of, and embarked upon, a mission to realise a memorial that would honour their loved ones. Eight months later, during the summer of 2002, an international design competition for the Pentagon Memorial was announced. Led by a team from the Army Corps of Engineers, the competition gathered together an esteemed group of jury members charged with judging the entries. Upon evaluating more than 1,100 entries, the jury awarded six finalists with a stipend to further refine their proposals. In March 2003, Kaseman Beckman Advanced Strategies (KBAS) was announced as the winner.
