PLANNING BY PARAMETERS

How can we respond to today's most pressing spatial challenges, those driven by socioeconomic factors and massive worldwide urbanisation, where everyone, everywhere, demands more resources and more space? By filling parcels of land with established solutions, those limited by economic, technical and zoning constraints, the development of answers to these spatial challenges is neglected, and critical social and ecological issues are ignored. How can we contribute to the rich, but increasingly complex, situation of the contemporary city? And how can we maintain an overview of possible design solutions in the face of this ever-increasing complexity?
