The application of underwater acoustics to seabed habitat mapping

We live in an era where the marine environment worldwide is coming under increasing pressures from human activities and climate change, and there is a growing need to collect high resolution seabed data for the sustainable management of marine resources. Seabed habitat maps are now widely recognised as the fundamental first step necessary for scientific fisheries management, for monitoring environmental change and for assessing the impact of anthropogenic disturbance on benthic organisms.
