Some Thoughts On Deadlines And Salaries

The deadline for submitting a proposal for a mathematical sciences institute is February 27, 2009. This is not a lot of time to prepare a proposal of this size and scope, but it is not impossible. I hope there are statistics groups out there planning a submission-the statistics discipline should be competing for (some of) the $20,000,000 the Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) at NSF plans to spend on this competition.
