Reminiscing With Bob Mason

Serving as an ASA president is a tremendous honor, but also carries much responsibility. With only a one-year term as president, you learn quickly that there is not much time to accomplish your goals, or to affect the profession. In recalling my term as president in 2003,I thought of the following: Volunteers are amazing individuals. The large number of volunteers who work for the profession never ceased to amaze me. Some were in visible roles-such as chairs of committees, chapters, or sections-but most were unheralded members who simply wanted to serve in some capacity to help the association remain strong and reach its strategic goals and objectives.
