The Canadian Academy of Engineering inducted Brian Garrod as one of 49 new fellows. He was recognized for his work on projects such as the Channel Tunnel, Boston Harbor Outfall, Dulles Airport tunnel, and numerous projects in southern Ontario. Garrod is the deputy practice leader for tunnels at Hatch Mott McDonald and an expert on tunnels and tunnel technology. He has 41 years of general civil engineering experience, with the last 29 years devoted solely to transit and tunneling assignments. Earlier this year, Garrod was awarded the Ontario Professional Engineers Engineering Medal-Engineering Excellence Award, which is jointly approved by the governing Council of Professional Engineers Ontario and the board of directors of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers.
