The village of Beauly in the Highlands is synonymous with fishing, wildlife and relaxation - oh, and a run of monstrous electricity pylons that cut a swathe through its otherwise beautiful surroundings. It's an unfortunate fact of life: even some of the most beautiful parts of the country must bear the visual cost of our energy needs. That's particularly true in the Highlands and Islands which, as home to much of Britain's wind resource, is facing proposals for additional power line capacity to provide a transmission motorway to the south.
