Introduction to Prespotting

Prespotting suede and leather differs from prespotting cloth in three important ways. First, you can never use live steam in spotting suede, leather or fur. Second, you must scrape crusty spots and stains from the surface of a suede by abrasion. And third, you must not use spot removers and batch additives that are made for use on cloth—they can cause color losses and skin damage on suede, leather and fur. Use only safe spot removers and batch additives that have been specifically formulated for use on suede, leather and fur, such as the Royaltone line of products. These eliminate the dangers of color loss and stiffening of skins on suede, leather, fur and combination garments.
