The Japanese operating lease with call option (Jolco) market received a welcome piece of news in December 2015 when the Japanese government announced that while the use of the declining balance method for certain assets will be abolished, aircraft would not be among them. That collective sigh of relief among Jolco market participants was followed by new names being introduced to the market, including Aeromexico and Pegasus (via lessor China Aircraft Leasing Group). There is an attempt to introduce US airlines to the Jolco market, because their financials have improved in recent years.
