Qatar Petroleum opens offices in Maputo at last!

After being courted by the state-owned Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH) for years ( AEI 772), the national firm Qatar Petroleum International (QPI) at last registered a Maputo-based subsidiary, Qatar Petroleum Mozambique, on October 29. QPI, which is chaired by the crown prince of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, has its eyes on block 4 operated by ENI, and since 2017, by ExxonMobil. There was a strong possibility that QPI took a share of block 4 at the time the American major entered the block. According to the official text describing the Mozambican subsidiary’s aim, QPI intends to work with ENH and the Instituto Nacional Do Petroleo (INP) as well as any other public structure for hydrocarbon production and services projects.
