First Replantation of an Incompletely Amputated Human Digit by anApproximation Technique: Report of a Case

In February 1958, I treated an 8-year-old Ojibway boy (DS) who had injured his left indexfinger with a hatchet as he was cutting wood. It was attached by only 1/8 inch of lateral skinon its ulnar aspect, with sharp severance of all remaining structures of the finger—bone,tendons, and blood vessels.
