Objective To investigate the supplementation of Danggui Shaoyao Powder (DSP) on reducing oxidative stress, cognitive impairment and neurotoxicity in D galactose [D gal) induced aging mice. Method ICR mice were randomly divided into control group,model group,the vitamin E group,high and low dose of dichloromethane extract from DSP groups. All groups except con trol group were injected with D gal (50 mg Kg"1 D"1 ) for 50 days to establish a subacute aging model. The learning and study ability of mice was determined by step down passive avoidance test and Morris water maze test. Malondialdehyde (MDA) content , total superoxide dismutase (T SOD) and GSH Px activities in serum and also glutathione/glutathione disulfide (GSH/GSSG) ra tio,Na+ K+ adenosine triphosphatase (Na+ K+ ATPase) activities,amylod j3 content in brain were assayed.
