摘要

This article , from the perspective of eco -criticism , analyzes Faulkner's classic novel The Bear ,in which the old bear plays the role of the God of the forest . The bear and Sam are the guardians of the wilderness . On one hand , the essence of their spirit embodies the original relationship between the human and nature , which deeply affects the protagonist's growing up . On the other hand , their death reflects the plunder of the human on nature and reveals that capitalist industrial civilization is the evil source of nature's destruction .
