The Wudang area, as a part of southern Qinling Orogen, has undertaken complicated tectonic deformation and evolution. Shear zone structures play a role of the whole history of tectonic evolution.Unfortunately.however,few shear zones were reported until 1991 (Cheng etc.1991). Even though, there were rarely evidence to deal with their patterns and array, deformation characteristics, environment and the action on the tectonic evolution in this area.The authors’ research has made out that shear zones with different style and components of deformation elements in the Wudang terrain reflect deformation times, environment and evolution of tectonic stress fields. They have three types, i, e. ductile, ductile-brittle and brittle shears, and occur in different position, resulted from the different deformation stage of tectonic stretching and collision process between the N. China Plate and S. China Plate, respectively.
