Solvothermal Syntheses, Crystal Structures, and Luminescent Properties of Three Coordination Polymers Derived from Semirigid 3-(Carboxymethyl)benzonic Acid and Dipyridyl Coligands

Three coordination polymers,namely,{ [Zn(cmba)(bpp)]·H2O}n (1),{[Zn(cmba)(bpa)1.5]·2.25H2O}n (2) and {[Cd(cmba)(bpa)(H2O)]·H2O}n (3) (H2cmba =3-(carboxymethyl)benzonic acid,bpp =1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane and bpa =1,2-bi(4-pyridyl)ethane),were synthesized under solvothermal conditions and characterized by elemental analysis,IR spectroscopy,thermogravimetric analysis (TGA),and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.Complex 1 features a 2D (4,4) grid layer with a side length of 9.827(10)/12.176(13) (A).Complex 2 shows a 2D → 2D 2-fold interpenetrating layer structure through the flexible bpa coligands.Compound 3 presents a 2D layer formed from the metal-carboxylate chains further extending through bpa pairs.Furthermore,the solid state luminescent properties of complexes 1 ～3 were investigated at room temperature.
