Closeout Report for the Decontamination and Decommissioning of the 203-S, 204-S, 205-S Facilities

The obsolete 203-S, 204-S, 205-S uranium nitrate hexahydrate purification and storage facility and the radioactive waste tank car unloading equipment in the 200 West Area of the US Department of Energy Hanford Site were decontaminated and decommissioned. Aboveground facilities were dismantled and the area was backfilled with a minimum of 2 feet of clean fill over remaining underground concrete structures and piping. Fencing was removed and the site was released as a clean area with underground contamination. The 13-month project was completed by Rockwell Hanford Operations' new Decontamination and Decommissioning forces three months ahead of schedule and $275,000 under budget. 46 figures.
