通识教育:西南联大“三常委”办学理念的认同

     

摘要

执校西南联大的梅贻琦、蒋梦麟、张伯苓是否具有通识教育的理念与认同(尤其是张伯苓是否赞成通识教育),是西南联大史研究中的一个命题。西南联大能够实施通识教育,深层次上的主要原因是居于西南联大最高领导层的“三常委”有着通识教育理念的认同。这种认同,集中体现在:“发展个性,完善人格;健强体魄,担当重任;文理兼融,博通为先;团体协作,消除涣散;陶冶情操,提高素养”五个方面。它表明西南联大要培养具有合理的知识结构与能力结构、品行高尚、判断独立、身体素质良好、情趣丰富高雅、勇于承担社会责任的全面发展的人。西南联大人才培养的成就及其学子的成长体悟,充分说明通识教育是高质人才辈出的重要因素。%The fact that General education in National Southwest Associated University could be promoted had deep relationship with the three members of the standing committee who possessed the same educational philosophy.Five elements reflected this philosophy:developing personality and perfecting personality,building stronger body to assume heavy responsibility,understand-ing liberal arts and science with erudition first,developing synergetic group to eliminate poor organization,cultivating taste and improving quality.These elements show that National Southwest Associated University aimed to cultivate all-round students, who possessed reasonable structure in knowledge and capability,had noble character and strong body,could make independent judgment and take social responsibilities.The achievements made in the talent education and the growth experience of the students there prove that general education was an important factor for the success of the university in its talent training,which is still inspiring in the current general education reform of colleges and universities in China.
