An investigation of the crisis of faith event.

Faith is foundational to Christian tradition but it's meaning has been interpreted in a multitude of ways. The significance of faith has been described as "The orientation of the total person (Fowler, 1981, p. 14) and "The most centered act of the human mind" (Tillich, 1957, p. 4). Accepting traditions of faith requires trust, which is vulnerable to doubt if trust is perceived to have been broken. The perception of broken trust may follow a significant life crisis. The researcher experienced a life crisis that deeply challenged the researcher's faith. Differences between concept of God, religious doubt, spiritual maturity, and experiencing or not experiencing a crisis of faith were investigated.
