摘要

This thesis describes the design, simulation and implementation of a fuzzy control based speed governor from within a general-purpose programmable logic controller (PLC). The ability to implement the fuzzy speed controller from within PLC eliminates the need to buy a stand-alone speed controller in applications where a general purpose PLC is already in use. The results of laboratory experiments using a DC motor/AC generator combination and MATLAB simulations for a typical steam turbine generator set are presented. Based on favorable results, plans for implementing the PLC based speed governor at an actual geothermal power plant that is to be located in the Philippines are currently under consideration.
