创伤与和平——从空间理论角度解读迈克尔·翁达杰的《遥望》

摘要

迈克尔·翁达杰（Michael Ondaatje，1943-）是加拿大当代移民作家的代表人物之一。他以移民和作家的双重身份和视角创作的半自传体小说《遥望》，一经问世便受到社会的广泛关注，并荣获加拿大文学最高荣誉加拿大总督奖，也成为移民文学的代表作品之一。
　　本论文运用亨利·列斐伏尔的空间理论，解读《遥望》中移民的物质空间、心理空间和社会空间;聚焦于小说中心以安娜、库珀和吕西安为代表的移民的人生征程，解析了他们通过与过去经历的和解，从而走出了心灵创伤的阴霾，并且客观地理解和正视自己的历史的心路历程;物质空间从乡村、城市和战场空间入手，递进式地呈现出移民生存环境的逐步恶化;心理空间从创伤性心理和治疗方法入手，分析了无根性、暴力和战争对移民心理的创伤性影响;社会空间从构建平等与和谐的社会入手，分析了移民所面临的困难和其艰难的生存环境，并指出霸权主义是造成个人和国家动荡的重要原因之一，指明构建和谐社会是解决移民问题的有效途径。
　　本论文的创新之处在于从物理、心理和社会的多维空间探讨移民的生存空间、心理状态、生存困境以及解决方式。翁达杰在《遥望》中回顾移民历史，指明移民为社会建设所作出的巨大贡献;他呼吁和倡导的以“生命为中心”的和谐理念，对解决移民、难民、战争、恐怖主义、饥饿，不平等和环境污染等当今社会现实问题具有深刻的启发和借鉴作用。
