摘要

Light gauge steel cassette sections offer an alternative form of load-bearing wall assembly for use in low rise steel-framed construction. Consideration of the overall stability of the structure leads logically to the use of "stressed skin design" and "diaphragm" action. Cassette wall construction is particularly advantageous in this context so that the cassettes are subject to axial load, bending and in-plane shear. Outline design procedures for cassettes subject to these three load cases are given in Eurocode 3: Part 1.3 but these require some more detailed consideration and amplification. This paper reviews the practical design considerations in the light of recent research and development.
