The presentation will briefly discuss the environment in which military aircraft are utilised along with associated risks. Itwill touch on what was done in legacy aircraft to mitigate these risks and what is done now and in the short term.Additionally it will look at how these short term solutions mitigate the risks, but will also highlight the dangers ofautomation under certain circumstances. Finally the presentation will look at some future developments such as theintroduction of the Mk4 Merlin and 3D conformal symbology plus modifications which may some day be implemented.The scope, where possible will stay within the experiences I have of flying the Merlin Mk3 to give credibility and recency.
