To calibrate the resistance factor in the load-resistance factor designrn(LRFD) for aggregate piers, reliable evaluation of ultimate bearingrncapacity and the related resistance bias factor using the static load testrnis required. In this study, the ultimate bearing capacities of aggregaternpier are determined and compared using the graphical method as wellrnas the non-linear regression analysis. Also, the resistance bias factorsrnare calculated using the theoretical models of the ultimate bearingrncapacity of the aggregate pier, and the resistance factors of LRFD arerncalibrated. Finally, the resistance factors are applied to the fieldrnconstruction example of aggregate piers and the safety margins arerncalculated and compared with those of the allowable stress designrn(ASD).
