Design for PCB Manufacturing Through Advanced CAM verification The evolution of the PCB design with regards to manufacturability has progressed little since the last World Convention in 1993. Design systems still do not understand the PCB manufacturing requirements and as a result, these systems often create designs that either do not take full advantage of the manufacturer's capabilities or generate designs whose non-critical features are unnecessarily difficult to build. Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is still one of the hot topics, but many of the published papers deal with the subject only from a theoretical point of view. This paper describes the practical solution at the interface between design and fabrication which is in use today at Ericsson.
