MIPAS OZONE VALIDATION BY SATELLITE INTERCOMPARISONS

MIPAS ozone data has been compared with that fromrndifferent satellite instruments, for the period July-rnDecember 2002. The MIPAS O3 profiles have beenrnintercompared systematically with co-located data fromrnHALOE, SAGE-II, POAM-III, ODIN SMR, GOME,rnURAP climatology, and IMK independent MIPASrnretrievals. At pressures less than 50hPa, results showedrngenerally good agreement. The largest discrepanciesrnwere found to occur at pressures greater than 50 hPa,rnand in tropical and polar latitudes. Estimates ofrnprecision and accuracy of MIPAS O3 are reported on thernbasis of the conducted comparisons.
