Collision and agglomeration behavior of various non-metallic inclusions on the surface of steel melts of different composition has been observed "in-situ" and in real time by confocal scanning laser microscopy.Characteristics of the behavior distinct to solid or liquid inclusions of idifferent systems have been established and are described.Strong attraction is found to occur between solid inclusion particles,whereas liquid ones show no such attraction.This attraction is responsible for the formation of clusters of solid inclusion particles,and is considered due to capillary effects.
