摘要

In order to harmonize the container transportation to improve the productivity of container terminal, it is very important to prevent bottleneck due to mismatch among equipment during operation, e. g. too many or too less one type of equipment, to avoid equipment idle time waiting each other. An optimization model and method for optimal configuration of containerhandling machines in an existing container terminal is given, which combines four main factors, i. e. the quantity of container handling machines, the overall make span of wharf, the utilization rate of equipment and overall running cost of the wharf. The model and test example can be used as a reference to allocate container handling machines in a given terminal.
